BONDING diastemas:
Bonding is a cosmetic method to close spaces between teeth.
Many people have spaces between the upper front teeth which are called DIASTEMAS.
To some this is an attractive feature; many people would like to close the space.
There are two methods to close the space. Bonding a matching tooth color filling material is an excellent method. Bonding requires one visit in most cases. Bonding does not require removal of tooth structure in most cases. Bonding is a strong material and permits one to chew normally. Like most materials used to restore teeth, there are limitations. People need to be aware that destructive habits should be avoided. These include biting on bones (chicken wing bones); foreign objects like pens or pencils; opening packages with teeth; and biting nails.
An alternative option to bonding the teeth is orthodontic treatment.
