This is an example of adding composite resin, a tooth colored filling material, to teeth to create a more esthetic appearance. Cosmetic shaping is done by adding to the existing teeth and not by removing any tooth structure in most cases. Tooth structure may be removed if the existing teeth are out of place.
The process involves cleaning of the teeth and preparing the surface to accept the resin which bonds to the enamel. The resin material is made in a wide range of colors to achieve a blending with the natural tooth enamel.
